Alpha PDF Pattern
Alpha PDF Pattern
Alpha invites you to choose your own adventure! This is not a pattern for one specific design. Instructions and templates are included to make 8" finished letter blocks, which you can use to make your own unique quilt. A planning table is included to help you map out the pieces you'll need to make blocks for your own alphabet or message.
Pattern includes full cutting and sewing instructions for each letter block, along with step-by-step diagrams.
The amount of fabric needed will depend on the size of your quilt and the letters or words you want to use. Two 10" squares (one for the letter, one for the background) will make at least one letter block. Two fat quarters will make at least 3-4 letters.
Fabric requirements for five example quilts are also provided as inspiration, and to give you a rough idea of how much fabric you'll need for your own design.
Two construction options are provided for the letter blocks. You can choose one, or mix them up depending on the letter(s) you are making and your personal preferences:
- Beginner-friendly Construction Option 1 uses squares, rectangles, and quarter circle blocks.
- Skill-builder Construction Option 2 uses additional intermediate-to-advanced curved piecing technique to minimize the number of seams in each block.
Reminder: This is a pattern for 26 different 8" x 8" letter blocks. It is not a pattern for one specific design.
